CAS ology Week 119: Ghosts

This I my second post for today. If you want to take a look at my Christmas card # 4, please scroll down.

This is the very first time I want to participate into the CAS ology challenge. This week the theme is "Ghosts". I just received some stamps by Lawn Fawn which I ordered a few days ago. Perfect to try them out:

Card is only about half the size of a standard size card (14,8 x 10,5 cm - folded in half). Great to get rid of all these leftover pieces I can't hardly throw away.

Supplies:
Stamps: Lawn Fawn
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin Up Craft White
Paper: gray (noname) out of my basket
Miscelleaneous: matching die, Diamensionals, orange alcohol marker (Delta Marker by Rotbart)

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas card # 4

And here is the next Christmas card I made on my SU workshop last sunday:

This is the card when it is closed. Do you see the middle section of the card? It is all spacy.

This is the inside. The sentiment and the small bird are hidden by the trees and the bottom part of the front, when the card is closed.

Here I tried to get a picture which shows both, the inside and the outside. Was a little bit tricky but it might give you a glimpse.

Supply list (all Stampin up -except the white jingle bells which are noname):
Stamps: Christbaumfestival (english name: Festival of Trees), Zauber der Weihnacht (Bright & Beautiful)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Sahara Sand
Paper: Garden Green, Whisper White,  Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper, Trim The Tree Designer Series Paper Stack
Miscelleaneous: Snail Adhesive, Tree Punch, Star Punch of the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Glue Dots, Bakers Twine, Jingle Bells

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day,

Christmas card # 2 and a long story about

Here is the next christmas card I made last sunday:

Usually, when I buy SU stuff at my demonstrator I use to buy the german sets (if available). But this time I bought the english version of the stamp set. I like the big words in english more than in german. Think the font is nicer...

All other supplies aren't in my stash, yet. It great to try them on a convention or a workshop and to decide after that if I have to buy it or not.

The confetti star punch definetly walks right onto my christmas wishlist.

And there is a funny story about this card.

Katharina, the workshop hostess asked to bring some things to the workshop. For example, it is much easier when everyone has her own scissors and glue and stamping blocks than sharing them.

One of the things she asked for was the Dazzling Details. Well, I don't have the Dazzling Details from Stampin Up - but I do have the Icicle Stickles by Ranger. So I brought this bottle instead. The girl right next to me was curious why my bottle had a different lid. I said "well it's from another stamp company - not Stampin Up". She gave me this totally confused look like I was talking chinese :-) "There are other stamp compynies than Stampin Up available in Germany???" she asked.

Are you kidding me? No, she wasn't.

Holy cow. That was hard. To realize that they are gilrs who never heard of any other company than SU. I always thought that in the time of internet and e.b.a.y people using the search option.

I am not a SU-demo so I am allowed to say the following :-)

I really like SU and their products. But as money don't grow on trees (at least not here in my part of the world) I don't want to waste any money on stamping products if not necessary.

Maybe the US prizes are nice, but some of the german SU products are really expensive. So, why should I pay 22,95 EUR for the envelope punch board, when I'll get the original from "We R memory keepers" for 16 EUR in the local craft store? Or pay 4,25 for a bottle of Tombow Multi Mono Liquid Glue when its available for 3 EUR?! Years ago I bought all these circle punches by EK Success for half the prizes SU wants to have, same with the stars framelits (16 instead of 29,95). And of course I had the Memento tuxedo Black ink pad by Tsukineko long before SU offered it for their alcohol markers :-)

Long story short: I really love SU and their products but if I'll get the same quality for less money I'll take the chance. I don't receive any products for free - I don't work for any stamp company, I am in no design team (well, would be great to receive things for free - hey guys at Ranger, Hero Arts, lawn fawn: do you need some help?) so I have to pay attention where to leave my money.

Have a nice day, thanks for stopping by.

Christmas card

Last sunday I attended to a Stampin up Workshop, themed "Christmas". I really like to be part of things like this - because it gives me the chance to play along with some of the SU stamps and accessories I don't have yet :-)

It was a full-day workshop and I left it with a basket full of card, boxes and other things.have been a really successful day, smile.

I will show you these things during this week.

Let's start with the first Christmas card:

This is one of the stamp sets which hasn't touched my heart yet. But I really like the final result and so it jumped on to my "maybe" wishlist.

Supplies (all Stampin up):
Cardstock: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon
Stamp: Seasonally Scattered
Ink: Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon
Miscellaneous: Rhinestones, Lost Lagoon Satin Stitched Ribbon, Snail adhesive, Dimensionals

With symphathy

The tomcat of a close friend passed away. He was a very old, sick cat so this wasn't unexpected. But it is always sad to lose a pet, which has been as close as a child.

So I decided to make a syphathy card for Julia.

This is the card I made:

I used an old image I stamped months ago and kept in my stash. Thought it would be the right one to use.

I decided to not use any black colours. So even it is a symphathy card it will look friendly.

Supplies:
Stamps: Cherry Pie (cat), Magenta (swirls)
Ink: Marvy Prussean Blue
Miscelleanous: old book page, glue

Thanks for stopping by.

Baby Shower

I have been asked for making a baby boy shower card. This is what I ended with:

It is a clean and simple card but I used 4 layers of cardstock (technically 5 layers if I count the small heart punch, too).

Supplies:
Stamp: Stampin Up
Ink: Memento
Dies/Punch: Stampin Up
Paper: Bazzill, Canson, Papyrus, glitter paper (noname)
Miscelleaneous: Rhinestone, 3D foam, glue

Thanks for stopping by.

Opening a business

One of my colleagues, Chris, asked me for an individual card. His friend will open a business (dog parlor) soon and Chris wanted something special.

I really like dogs but as a true cat lover I have only a few dog stamps. I remembered my card I made for the OLS "road trip" theme some months ago and ended with something similar:

I printed the sentiment ("all the best to your open business") on heavy white card stock. Think it is much easier to print first and stamp the image afterwards. Using a stamp-a-ma-jig to get the stamp in the right spot. Coloured it with different water based dye ink pads. Let it dry. Card takes from start to finish less than 10 minutes.

Supplies:
Stamps: Penny Black
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black, several Distress inks (for colouring)

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a wonderful sunday, happy stamping.

Masterpiece: Travel journal

A very close friend, Melanie, just turned 40. I decided to make her a travel journal because she spent a few days in London and celebrated her birthday there.

I made this journal using all my travel themed stamps/stamps sets I have, using kraft envelopes and several cut outs. In each of the five envelopes is a small leporello which can hold up to 6 photos each.

Sorry, some of my pictures are blurred - I made them late at night in my tiny stamp room which has very bad lights (need to replace them):

Cover outside:

Luckily I had some scrap-paper of a London map (!) in my stash. I used it for the front and back cover. Word and year is cut out with a very old Cuttlebug alphabet.

Cover inside:
Has a small pocket to hold all these small treasures like tickets or more photos.

Page 1: "endlich Urlaub" is a german stamp and means "finally vacation"

Page 2: airplane

Page 3: camera

Page 4: some passports

Page 5: some bags

Page 6: another bag
Oh, I love this very bag stamp. It is an old discontinued (don't even know if the company still exists)

Page 7:
Another images of this bag. Only different style (colours).

Page8: some filmstrip and another passport

Page 9: more of these filmstrip

 Page 10:  small passport

Inside back cover: another of this small pockets to hold entrace cards or something else

Back cover: again using this great scrapbook paper

Here is the final picture. Sorry it is blurred. But I thought it will give you a glimse how the book is closed by the satin ribbon which I tied in a bow:

I made this journal book on several evenings. Right after work, sometimes until midnight. But I think it was totally worth it. Also, I have learned a lot of things by try-and-error, for example, it is much easier to stamp the envelopes before they are glued together. And the front and back cover should be definitely the last thing you do. Otherwise you'll risk to damage these small hinges.

As you can see, I used really a lot of different stamps. To name them individually will take a while.

If you want to know any specific one, please leave a comment with the page number and a description of the stamp and I will give credit to this single one. But be aware: many of them are already discontinued.

Here is (hopefully) the complete supply list:
Stamps: Stampers Anonymus, Hero Arts, Inkadinkado, PSX, JudiKins, Heindesign (german), Invoke Arts, Hampton Art Stamps, Stampa Rosa, Magenta, Art Impressions, Stempelbar (german), Kaleidoskop (german)
Ink pads: Marvy, Memento
Paper: K& Company, Papyrus, noname
Punches and dies: Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Stampin up
Miscellaneous: brads (unknown), satin ribbon (noname), kraft envelopes, glue

Thanks for stopping by.

One-Layer Simplicity Challenge #10: Turning to Fall

Hi there,

I haven't been online for a while. Life has been really busy (rough?) and I had to focus on other things than stamping.

But I want to participate in the OLS Challenge "Turning to fall" and this is my card:

I am more into summer season but fall/autumn is the time to remember to be thankful. Thankful for being healthy. For being loved and love back. For a wonderful family, husband and kids.

For my card I used some old, discontinued stamps and some rarely used inkpads. Which are still wet. Lucky me *smile*

I started with the leaf in the middle to get them all in the right spot. Used a pencil and a ruler to mark the center. After stamping I erased the soft line. For the finish I overlayed the three stamped leafs with one coat with my "wink of Stella" clear pen. The glitter is very soft but gives it the final touch.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts (word), Stampin Up (leaf)
Inkpads: Marvy, Marvy Heritage
Glitter: Wink of Stella Clear pen
Paper: Papyrus white

Thanks for stopping by.
